Assistance to Indonesian seamen
Six of the crew members from the Oyang 75 remain in New Zealand to pursue their case against the boat owners. The needs are:
- Support for the remaining crew
- Temporary work. Someone to offer them work for the next couple of months.
- Accommodation for the remaining 6. Hosted in 2s and preferably all in the same neighbourhood. This could be for up to 2 months. If they find work they will be able to contribute some money.
- Spread the word. The treatment of the crew from Southern Storm Fishing and on the Oyang 75 amounts to a New Zealand company running a sweatshop in New Zealand and undercutting your company. This is in the fishing industry, but the principle would be the same in your business. The NZ agent is responsible, so hold them responsible.

Can you help Phil King in his assistance to the stranded Indonesian seamen?
Some of you might have heard about the plight of some Indonesian seamen who have been stuck here in a backpackers in Christchurch over a pay dispute. One of the chaplains at Lincoln University is Indonesian and has been in contact with them. She is seeking church assistance to help them, as their Labour department accommodation allowance runs out on July 25th. If anyone is willing to find out ways in which you or your church might be able to help, please get back to me and I will send any replies on to her. She can then follow these up as required.
Their immediate needs will be food and accommodation; their long terms needs are advocacy and would require someone with skills in that area I think. Some of them will be Muslim and there has been some contact with the mosque, but here is a chance for the church to be involved in a pastoral way and to support them on justice issues. There is a meeting about this on Saturday night if anyone feels led to follow it up.

Together with our partners TEAR Fund is responding to the crisis across a range of countries. What we do now with your help, can help stop famine in these countries.
We would be pleased if you would partner with us to help raise $500,000.

Rebuilding the Walls - 4 Avenues Prayer gathering – Saturday 23rd 12.15pm-1.00 pm , hosted by Heart of God Revival Ministries.
Post earthquake Christchurch City Prayer for God’s blessing on the City.
Let’s rebuild the spiritual walls of this city, as Nehemiah and Ezra were involved with in rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem in the Old Testament. Let us stand in the breech, and see Godly kingdom walls built.
Christchurch’s original paper boundaries were
1- Bealey Ave,
2- Park Tce, Rolleston Ave, Antigua St
3- Fitzgerald Ave
4- Moorhouse Ave
Strategy -
To arrange Christians to gather for 30 minutes along the original city boundaries. They will and spread out with about 2 metres between each person. They will stay around the same spot looking towards the inner city. Each person can pray for areas of burden related to the city. Some may want to pre write declarations for the city and read these out. You can pray quietly and still be effective. Volume and Faith are not twins!
Each person is to pray on their own standing in the gap for the city, offering prayers of confession, repentance, then consecration and blessing .Once the prayer is complete, then people can disperse in their own time.

The future of Christian radio in New Zealand is under threat.
RBG operates three national radio networks and every day
NZ’s Rhema,
Life fm and
Southern Star positively impact the lives of thousands of New Zealanders of all ages.
Right now the majority of our radio stations are under threat. It’s hard to imagine, but towns, cities and entire regions could soon be left with no RBG broadcast coverage.
Why is this happening? By October 1st this year, RBG must pay the New Zealand Government $6.4 million to renew 90% of our commercial radio frequency licences for the next 20 years.
For RBG to positively impact the lives of the next generation, it is vital that the frequency licences are secured this year.
RBG has begun a major campaign called
2030 Vision, to raise the funds needed to keep New Zealand covered by Christian radio.
